To promote MPI's and USM's capabilities to companies and organizations at SEUS/CP. To establish relationships that can continue at future SEUS/CP meetings (including next year's event in Mississippi and beyond).

Organization Profile

The Mississippi Polymer Institute (MPI) is world-class technical facility that provides technical support and services for advanced materials companies. Stemming from Polymer Department of The University of Southern Mississippi, MPI is a non-profit industrial outreach organization that has dedicated over 32 years to helping the polymer industry and composite manufacturers prosper and expand within Mississippi and beyond.

Our expertise can be applied to all facets of the business curve, ranging from product conceptualization to post-commercialization. Our state-of-the-art laboratory (ISO 17025 accredited test laboratory through A2LA – Scope of Accreditation #3476.01) offers a comprehensive suite of technical services, including synthesis, formulation, polymer processing, analytical techniques, and accelerated aging tests. Coupled with our experienced staff scientists, our team works with a variety of established and emerging companies by offering testing services, workforce development, and consultation.

Within the past few years, MPI has taken initiatives to engage and educate community and industry leaders on more sustainable ways of conducting business. These initiatives focus on (i) Advanced Clean Energy alternatives for materials & product evaluation, (ii) Sustainable Materials product certification and composability and (iii) Center for Graphene Excellence. These initiatives show practical applications while also serving as an educational aspect of effective in efforts of accelerate commercialization/adoption of sustainable materials and clean energy processes.
