Organization Profile

VAC AERO International is a Canadian-based company, founded in 1959, that specializes in advanced materials processing for aerospace and other high-technology industries. The company operates globally and is widely recognized as a leader in vacuum heat treating, coatings, and furnace manufacturing. Its core business is centered on enhancing the performance, durability, and reliability of critical metal components—particularly those used in gas turbines, aircraft engines, landing gear, and airframe systems.

VAC AERO manufactures high-performance vacuum furnace systems that are used for heat treating and brazing metals under controlled environments. These furnaces are custom-designed or standardized systems capable of high-temperature processing, gas quenching, and ultra-clean thermal cycles, which are essential for aerospace-grade materials. In addition to equipment manufacturing, the company provides a full range of metallurgical services. These include vacuum heat treating, vacuum brazing, oil quenching, and specialized processes for advanced steels and alloys as demonstrated by Boeing’s recent 7M order for two vacuum furnaces.

Another major area of expertise for VAC AERO is coatings technology. The company applies various protective and performance-enhancing coatings to both new and repaired components. These include plasma spray, high-velocity oxygen fuel (HVOF) coatings, thermal spray coatings, and diffusion coatings such as pack aluminide. These coatings improve wear resistance, corrosion protection, and thermal performance of parts operating in extreme environments such as jet engines. Together, these capabilities make VAC AERO a key supplier and subcontractor to major aerospace OEMs, supporting both original manufacturing and maintenance, repair, and overhaul (MRO) activities.

VAC AERO US, located in Greenville, South Carolina, represents the company’s first operational facility in the United States, established in 2025 through a partnership with Meyer Tool. This site operates as an integrated “shop-in-shop” facility within Meyer’s advanced manufacturing environment. The Greenville operation delivers many of the same core processes as the Canadian facilities, including vacuum heat treating and vacuum brazing, all supported by VAC AERO’s proprietary furnace technologies.

The Greenville facility primarily serves power generation (GE Vernova) and aerospace and customers in the southeastern United States. It enables closer proximity to OEMs and suppliers, improving turnaround time and supply chain efficiency. Initially focused on vacuum heat treatment using advanced furnaces, the site has a roadmap to expand into more advanced coating technologies over time. By embedding its services within an established manufacturing campus, VAC AERO US offers integrated processing solutions that streamline production and improve quality control for critical components.

In summary, VAC AERO International and its U.S. operation in Greenville provide a combination of specialized manufacturing equipment and high-value metallurgical services. Their offerings—spanning furnace design, heat treatment, brazing, and advanced coatings—support the production and longevity of complex, high-performance components used in demanding industries such as aerospace and energy
